    Our initial experience with 1and1 was good but we experienced serious problems with customer support and communications when we tried to expand our package. We called the sales dept at 1and1 to request an additional SharePoint site, received very curious service and were told we would soon receive an email. We did not receive the email that day so we called again and were told it may take up to 24 hours to set up the account and to send out the email. Following up the following day were were informed that there was no record of the request and nothing had been done.

    Support was curious and professional; but unable to provide any additional information, to allow us to speak to a manager or to correct the problem. Their only suggestion were to start the process over by re-submitting the request online.

    I have been with this company for over 5 years and I am finally fed up with their tech support, billing support, terms and conditions and there overall performance.

    I am a web consultant that has placed at least 15 of my own customers on this service and like to try out their new products to see if I can recommend them to my clients.

    THE PROBLEM – do not ever ask them for a credit or to change anything!

    I tried their MAil Xchange service – by adding it to my already substantial package – I found it quite impossible for my clients and canceled it prior to what was touted as a 90 money back guarantee.

    But alas, I was informed that this is only for NEW customers, not for services you can add on…. and now I am stuck with something I tested for a week and I am being forced to pay a years subscription!

    I called several times and eventually was handed over to Damian in the US billing office who stonewalled me and basically told me that it was tough and that I am stuck paying and it was no concern of his if I took my business and my clients business somewhere else.

    They send out surveys and never take them serious, and have never implemented improvements as suggested.

    You will make a grave error if you use this Company – They have no respect for their customers do not like talking to people. Bear in mind that there is no way to get hold of any manager or other person that has authority to override inept customer service support.

    It is going to take much time and effort to transfer from 1and1.. but I am in the process of doing just that. Voting with the dollar is the only recourse I have, but 15 customers at 2000-3000.00 yearly will make me feel better.
